Pull-Up: How to Do Your First One?

Pull-Up: How to Do Your First One? The pull-up is a great exercise for building back and arm muscles. It directly engages them whilst building strength and stamina. Moreover, the pull-up exercise is commonly performed by beginner and advanced-level athletes, especially in gymnastics, bodybuilding, and calisthenics. The pull-ups also help build hand strength and grip, which can prove beneficial for other exercises such as chin-ups, handwalks, handstands, human flags, etc., which are practiced mainly by calisthenics and gymnastics professionals. How to Do Your First Pull-Up? Dead Hangs The dead hang exercise requires you to hang from the pull-up bar with your feet hanging in the air without any support. You can either grab the pull-up bar by jumping from the ground, by jumping, or using a stepper, or by using other exercise equipment to reach the pull-up bar, hold it with your grip, and then, keeping your legs hanging in the air. Doing the dead hang exercise for one minute or more would...

Abs Workout | High-Intensity Interval Training | Day 27

Abs Workout | High-Intensity Interval Training | Day 27

Abs Workout | High-Intensity Interval Training | Day 27: We have been doing high-intensity interval training workouts for quite a long period of time now and have witnessed a lot of results from the same. I hope you are using proper stance and techniques given in my previous blogs and youtube videos. In case, you haven't practiced any of these workouts before, I would suggest you begin from the beginning so that you can cope with all of us.

Abs Workout | High-Intensity Interval Training | Day 27

About Today's Workout

So, profoundly like I said, we have been practicing high-intensity interval training workouts for quite a long period of time. Therefore, it is time to inculcate it into every body part, including the abs. In lieu of the same, we will be doing a high-intensity interval training abs workout at home today. Here is the list of exercises, we will be covering today:

Exercise Name
Duration (in Minutes)
Ab Crunches
5
Elbow to Knee Crunch
5 (2 min and 30 seconds each side)
Plank
5
Side To Side Toe Touch
5
Elbow to Hip Crunch
5 (2 min and 30 seconds each side)
Side Plank
5

So, in case you already know all the exercises mentioned within this workout, you can start performing the workout right away. If you don't know any of these abs exercises then you can probably watch the youtube video below or read the exercise instructions given below the video.

Exercise 1: Crunches (5 minutes)

The first and foremost exercise is abs crunches. Usually, people don't get this exercise or the form of this exercise correctly and therefore lag in results or optimum results. If you haven't checked out this exercise from the above video or are still in doubt about the proper form of doing ab crunches, then here is how you can do it:

Step 1: Lie down on the ground or on your mat with your back facing the ground.

Step 2: Tuck in your legs as close to your body as possible and keep your hands behind your head.

Step 3: Move your upper body towards your knees while looking either forward or upward. (P.S. the latter is more effective)

Step 4: Bring your upper body back to the ground while keeping your legs tucked and hands behind your head.

Step 5: Keep repeating this motion until your timer beeps or time in your timer runs out.

NOTE: Rest for 15-20 seconds and move to the next exercise of the extensive abs workout.

Exercise 2: Elbow to Knee Crunches (5 minutes)

Usually, whenever I refer this exercise to any of my trainees or even my students, they get boggled and mix it up with bicycle abs. However, this isn't bicycling abs exercise. Rather, this is a much simpler and equally efficient abs exercise which goes by its own name, " elbow to knee ab crunches".

So, here is how you can do this exercise:

Step 1: Like in any usual abs exercise, just lie down on the ground with your back facing the ground.

Step 2: Keep one of your legs tucked and close to you, whilst keeping the other leg atop the leg which is tucked.

Step 3: Keep your hands behind your head.

Step 4: Notice which knee is up and bring the elbow of the opposite hand towards the knee.

Step 5: Do this for 2 minutes 30 each side while changing the position of the legs and elbow which has to come towards it.

NOTE: Rest for 15-20 seconds and move to the next exercise of the extensive abs workout.

Exercise 3: The Plank (5 Minutes)

The plank is one of my favorite exercises and it's highly efficient when it comes to belly fat reduction. It is also one of the simplest exercises for those who are at the beginner to intermediate level.

So, here is how you can easily do a plank:

Step 1: Unlike any other abs exercise, your stomach will be facing the ground instead of your back.

Step 2: Instead of lying down on the ground you just have to lift and keep your body still above the ground.

Step 3: To do all the above necessary actions for a plank, just lie on the ground and fold your arms.

Step 4: Raise your body above the ground with the help of your arms and your feet.

Step 5: Stay in this posture

NOTE: Rest for 15-20 seconds and move to the next exercise of the extensive abs workout.

Exercise 4: Side-To-Side Toe Touch (5 Minutes)

Another simple yet quite effective abs exercise! It will completely help you to remove your love handles or oblique fat. (P.S. not until and unless you cut down on your carbs and fats every day:)

So, here is how you can do this exercise:

Step 1: Lie down on the ground and tuck your feet towards as close to your body as you can.

Step 2: Keep your hands on the ground on their respective sides.

Step 3: Stretch arm of one hand and touch your palm to the same side feet/toe.

Step 4: Bring the previous palm which is touching your same toe back to the original position and touch your opposite side feet/toe with the opposite side palm.

Step 5: Keep repeating the above motion until time elapses.

NOTE: Rest for 15-20 seconds and move to the next exercise of the extensive abs workout.

Exercise 5: Elbow To Hip Crunch (5 Minutes)

This is can be a challenging exercise for you, but not much challenging if you really want to reduce your oblique or love handles.

So, here is how you can do it:

Step 1: Lie down sideways on the ground.

Step 2: Keep the hand which is close to the ground slightly bent and lift your upper body sideways with the help of the arm.

Step 3: Keep the other hand just behind your head

Step 4: Bend the elbow of the hand which is behind your head towards your hip and then bring it back to the original position, while staying in the sideways posture.

Step 5: Change the side and your arms too and repeat the above motion(in step 4) the opposite side too after 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

NOTE: Rest for 15-20 seconds and move to the next exercise of the extensive abs workout.

Exercise 6: Side Plank (5 Minutes)

Since you already know how to lie down sideways because of the previous exercise, therefore I will skip the lying sideways step and proceed with the motions which have to be done after it.

So, here is how you can do a side plank:

Step 1: Once you are lying down sideways, then just raise your hips above the ground

Step 2: Take the support of one of your arms which is on the ground and your feet which are on the ground to raise your hips above the ground

Step 3: Do the above steps for 2 minute and 30 seconds and then change sides and repeat the same the other side too.

Voila! you are finished with today's workout. See you tomorrow with a more interesting and powerpack workout.
